You can choose to trade share with a normal trading account or with a share savings account (ASK), or both. You will get a VPS account either way. The differences are:

Features of a share savings account (ASK)

  • You can buy listed shares and ETFs on exchanges within the EU/EEA (not outside)
  • ASK gives you the right to defer tax on gains when you sell publicly-listed shares or funds within the scheme.
  • The tax is only paid when the gains are withdrawn from the share savings account.

Features of a normal trading account

  • You can trade on exchanges within and outside of the EU, e.g. in the US and Canada
  • You can trade both listed and unlisted shares, including NOTC or shares on Euronext Growth
  • You can also trade other types of listed securities (ETNs)
