Public occupational pension scheme

The public occupational pension scheme applies to employees working in the public sector. This can be within central government, municipalities or county councils.

This is the pension you receive in addition to your retirement pension from the National Insurance Scheme, because you have worked in the public sector.

It consists of several parts:

• Retirement pension
  Comes in addition to the National Insurance Scheme

• Contractual pension (AFP)
  A lifelong supplementary pension
  
• Disability pension and dependant's pension
  Secures income if you become incapacitated for work, and provides financial peace of mind to spouse/children in the event of death
