Investors continue to take profits in energy stocks
DNB's private investors maintained a high level of activity in April, and appear more aggressive than the previous month. Net purchases of shares reached NOK 475 million last month, out of a total turnover of nearly NOK 22 billion. Much suggests that many now see good opportunities in the market, despite ongoing geopolitical unrest and uncertainty surrounding interest rates and inflation.
Share trading continues to be dominated by energy shares such as Equinor and Aker BP, which are among the most sold shares in April. This suggests that many are still using previous price increases to take profits. On the buy side, DNB Bank, Kongsberg Gruppen and Norwegian Air Shuttle stand out in particular.
Investment economist at DNB Camilla Vik believes that the markets suggests the investors has shifted focus somewhat away from developments in the Middle East. - Other drivers now appear to be in play, she says. Much of the decline earlier this year has been recovered, and we are seeing optimism returning, particularly within the technology sector.
